A million native animals may have died in Victorian bushfires

Fires in Victoria and Floods in Queensland.
The fires have savaged over 400 000 hectares in Victoria and floods have affected nearly 60% of Queensland. The suffering of humans and non-humans is beyond words. While the whole nation braced itself and millions of dollars have generously been donated for human victims, it is not always the same when animals are concerned.

The treatment and rehabilitaton of a single burnt koala costs over $400 per week.

"The toll on these rescue teams is enormous – the sadness of seeing burnt and suffering wildlife is traumatic and some have described it as gut wrenching – it never leaves you -we mourn for those which we have lost.
If you can help with a donation to keep our specialised rescue teams in the field we would be very grateful."

AUSTRALIAN BUSHFIRES

It is estimated that over one million native animals have been killed. Wildlife organisations desperately need money to continue to find and treat injured animals. There are numerous organisations, sanctuaries and individuals that need donations and here are just a few that would be grateful for any help you can give.

Wildhaven Animal Shelter in North East Victoria Perished in the Fires
The shelter was run by Stella and Alan Reid. at Wildhaven. Wildhaven was a real haven - a safe, peaceful paradise for all creatures and especially for kangaroos.  All animals under their care have perished in the flames (including domestic pets) and numerous kangaroos, wallabies and wombats who lived on their property.
